SCADA - Solution Architect Purpose of this role: The jobholder will work in bid and project environments.   In a bid environment the jobholder will prepare solution and system designs for SCADA-based systems, prepare estimates, write technical aspects of the proposal and provide Design Authority technical leadership within a bid team. The jobholder will lead customer technical discussions and presentations.   In a project environment the jobholder will prepare solution and system specifications, system architectural designs and provide Design Authority technical leadership to teams specifying, designing, implementing, verifying and validating SCADA-based systems.   The jobholder will have in-depth familiarity with one or more COTS SCADA systems.   The jobholder will be experienced in dealing with subcontractors and suppliers and the integration of their scope within bid and project environments.   Background; Thales provides SCADA-based systems into a wide range of industries including transportation, Utilities, oil and gas, power generation.   The SCADA-based systems involve a range of equipment including PLCs, RTUs and a wide range of other types of equipment depending upon the domain in which they are deployed eg CCTV, Public Address, information displays, security equipment.   Thales uses in-house and other SCADA packages eg Wonderware Intouch/Archestra. Training will be provided for the in-house SCADA package where appropriate.   Main Duties and Responsibilities; Main duties within a bid environment comprise: Solution and system design Assessment of compliance against customer requirements Estimation Proposal preparation Compliance assessment Preparation of subcontractor/supplier requirements specifications. Integration of scope from third party subcontractors and suppliers and partners Leading presentations and technical discussions with customers Guiding the bid team in the role of Design Authority   Main duties within a project environment comprise: Preparation of System Requirements Specifications (Functional Specifications) Preparation of System Designs Integration of analyses within the design (RAMS, Performance, EMC, etc) Preparation Of lower level designs (if appropriate) Leading of a design team (where appropriate) Guiding the project team in the role of Design Authority General duties comprise: Reporting to the bid or project manager (as appropriate to the role) Responsibility for other designers when operating as part of a bid or project team. Providing management information as and when requested Adherence to THALES procedures, working practices and site specific processes To undertake all other reasonable tasks as and when requested Levels of Authority: Responsible to the bid or project management. Responsible to the Department System Engineering Manager. Responsible for other designers when operating as part of a bid or project team. Third Party Subcontractors/Suppliers Partners   Features of the job: May have to occasionally work outside of normal working hours. While the role is essentially based in Cheadle Heath there may be a requirement for occasional off-site meetings at client premises.
